In Brittany

  • Les Vieilles Charrues in Carhaix 

From 13 to 16 July, literally translated as ‘the Old Ploughs’, this iconic music festival dishes up a boisterous, convivial and eclectic mix of performances from music scene giants and budding young stars. 5 stages, 80 artists, 230 000 spectators…

  • Sound and Light Show at the Bon-Repos Abbey

From 2 to 12 August, at nightfall, the Bon-Repos Abbey in Saint-Gelven, illuminated by an entrancing sound and light show, becomes the stage for a historical fresco recounting the history of central Brittany from the Polished Stone Age to the Chouans uprising.

  • La Gacilly Photo Festival

From 3 June to 30 September, visit the biggest open air Photo Festival in France! Admire and learn about the art of photography at this free festival held in La Gacilly – just a stone’s throw from the Nantes–Brest Canal. This year the festival celebrates sub-Saharan African photography and also focuses on a secondary theme: the Human-animal relationship as perceived in current ethical issues.

  • Pornic Carnival

On 12 August, floats, brass bands, majorettes... they all descend upon the streets and port of Pornic. Celebrations end with the traditional setting alight of the ‘carnival king’ and a fireworks display at 11pm. Kids will love it!

  • Sooruz Lacanau Pro Surf Competition

From12 to 20 August, experience this unmissable competition which is part of the World Surf League’s Qualifying Series giving access to the sport’s elite world championship!  The Lacanau Pro competition is a 10-day event with a concert every evening, an exhibitors’ village on the sea front, 10 days of competition and surfing excitement, and 10 days of fun.

  • La Fête de la Mer in Arcachon

On 14 and 15 August, Arcachon celebrates the sea and its maritime traditions during its ‘Festival of the Sea’. Don’t forget your yellow bandanna!
